Student Representatives

MHE has a place set aside on the Academic Board for a Student Representative. Student Representatives are chosen based on their:

The Student Representative gives students an active voice in academic governance and decision-making at MHE. The Student Representative is expected to engage with the student body, tell the Academic Board their ideas and concerns, and explain the Academic Board’s resolutions and decisions to the student body. The Student Representative provides an avenue for all students to increase their engagement, influence decision making and foster community with each other at MHE.

The Student Representative has the same rights and responsibilities as any other member of the Academic Board. Students are vital stakeholders and taking their input into consideration in MHE’s decision-making processes ensures that MHE’s direction is more robust and valid.

Being a Student Representative also boosts your employability. You will develop your leadership, teamwork and time management skills in a governance environment. You will have opportunities to engage in negotiation and problem solving, which has real impact on your experiences at MHE. It lets you show that you make a positive difference to people around you and gives you the edge employers want.

If you are interested in becoming the next Student Representative, please use the “Student Representative to AB Expression of Interest” form on the Policies, Procedures and Forms page to apply.
